Skate Story comes to PlayStation Plus on December 8

It’s been a long road to get here, but the surreal skateboard simulation Skating history will actually be available to play on December 8th. The title will also be available from day one in the games catalog for PlayStation Plus subscribers, which is a huge advantage for Sony fans. It will be available on other platforms, like Steam and Nintendo Switch, but those versions cost $20. The PS5 version is free for PS Plus subscribers and is not currently coming to Xbox.

For the uninitiated, Skating history can only be described as a Lynchian version of skateboarding. Players control a glass avatar and perform tricks to swallow the moon and defeat the devil. It was announced back in 2020. We were able to play it last year and came away impressed. The game was directed by Sam Eng, who was behind the indie shooter Zarvat.

It is also published by Devolver Digital, a company that is no stranger to unique gameplay concepts. He published the utterly sublime Worship of the Lamb and one of our recent favorites, Ball x Pit. The first allows you to poop cultists, making it seem like doing kickflips as a glass-bodied demon is completely normal.

Looking to see what it’s all about? There is a demo currently on Steam. The game is also available for purchase on PS5, for those who don’t want to purchase a PS Plus subscription.
