“They Found a Hole in My Heart” – Childish Gambino Opens Up About the Hidden Health Issues That Interrupted His Camp Flog Gnaw Tour

Childish Gambino revealed he canceled his tour last year because he suffered a stroke and other health issues. As a result, he canceled the final dates of his North America tour as well as his entire tour of Australia and New Zealand.
Childish Gambino, real name Donald McKinley Glover Jr., sued The tour of the new worldstarting August 11, 2024. The tour was in support of his album, Bando Stone and the New Worldreleased on July 19, 2024. He performed a few shows in North America before canceling the remaining shows in September. Glover also subsequently canceled his shows in Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
The musician shared the reasons during his performance at Camp Flog Gnaw on Saturday, November 22. As captured by Kurrco, he said:
“I had a really bad head pain in Louisiana and I still did the show. I couldn’t really see well, so when we went to Houston, I went to the hospital and the doctor said, ‘You’ve had a stroke.’ And the first thing I thought was, “Oh, I’m still copying Jamie Foxx.” It’s really like the second thing. The first thing was like, “I’m letting everyone down.” » »
“I broke my foot…They found a hole in my heart…so I had that surgery and then I had to have another surgery.” “They say everyone has two lives and the second life begins when you realize you have one… You should live your life the way you want. If we have to start over, it will only get better,” he added.
Grover appears to have overcome these difficulties, however, as he performed at Camp Flog Gnaw on Saturday. This is an annual event created by rapper Tyler, The Creator. This year, it took place on November 22 and 23 in Los Angeles.
Notably, the Childish Gambino booth at Camp Flog Gnaw sold “Cancel Cards,” which featured Drake, Diddy, and R. Kelly, among others.

When Donald Grover retired Childish Gambino’s nickname


While the musician is known by his nickname Childish Gambino, he decided to retire it last year. As he released Bando Stone and the New WorldGrover said this will be the last under his old nickname.
In an interview with the New York Times, published on July 17, 2024, he said:
“It was really like, ‘Oh, it’s done.’ This is not satisfactory. And I just felt like I didn’t need to build that way anymore.
Grover spoke about moving forward in life and his family, saying:
“I think grace is underrated in the world. When I put my son on my shoulders, I feel a deep joy. It’s real. No one on their deathbed will look back and say, ‘Thank God I avoided grinding their teeth.’
Grover has three children with his longtime partner, Michelle White: Legend, Drake and Donald III.
