Rebecca Ferguson’s easy-to-consume sci-fi masterpiece stumbles on streaming ahead of season 3

Rebecca Ferguson dystopian thriller Silo has been one of Apple TV’s most excellent drama series since its 2023 debut – but that doesn’t mean audiences are treating it that way. Despite rave reviews, a 90% score on Rotten Tomatoes, and a growing fan base, the series has now fallen out of Apple TV’s Top 10 ahead of its third season. For a show commonly hailed as one of streaming’s best sci-fi offerings, its sudden decline suggests it might be slipping off the casual viewer’s radar…at least for now.
Created by Graham Yost (Justified) and based on That of Hugh Howey successful novels, Silo is a slow-moving masterclass in tension, world-building, and existential dread. Located in a massive underground bunker spanning hundreds of floors, the last survivors of society live by strict rules, the most important of which are: never ask what’s outside. The cast also includes the likes of Tim Robbins, Common, Steve ZahnAnd Harriet Walter, with Jessica Henwick And Ashley Zukerman join for season 3.
What is the quality of the “Silo”?
Season 2 of Silo took the story in unexpected directions, focusing Ferguson’s attention on the other characters, expanding his mythology, and deepening his character arcs. It also threw for a shocking ending. Collider Tania Hussein gave the second season a 8/10praising its “unique immersive environment” and “sharp writing”. She wrote: “By grounding its Orwellian elements in tense but relevant human struggles, Silo continues to surpass the genre…emerging as a masterful exploration of isolation and survival through Ferguson’s nuanced portrait.
“With its 10 episodes this season, the Silo The world is truly expanding and secondary performances amplify much of the stakes. As the trailer teases, Steve Zahn as the “new kid on the block” brings a layer of complexity to the situation Juliette finds herself in. Illustrating a sad and almost heartbreaking portrait of loneliness with childlike wonder, the actor is at his best in a barren playground where his character, Solo, creates the rules. It’s the chemistry he shares with Ferguson that creates a kind of dynamic interaction that contrasts his serious demeanor with a buoyant, lively approach. He’s quite a compelling counterpart to Juliette, and the one we see evolve in the most terrifying ways throughout the series. »
Silo Seasons 1 and 2 are now streaming on Apple TV. Stay tuned to Collider for more streaming updates.
