“The goal is to do something funny, beautiful, spiritual, political…” Obscured Releasing has released the official trailer for an animated film titled Endless cookiea wacky, funky and clever documentary tale about two half-brothers in Canada. This originally premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and has also been shown at AFI, Hot Docs, MoMA and the London Film Festival. Endless cookie is a new film from Seth & Pete Scriver – they painstakingly put it together over 8 years. Two half-brothers, one native and one white, embark on a journey through time and space. They travel back in time from their isolated home Shammatawa to the vibrant urban landscape of 1980s Toronto. Pete and Seth are half-brothers. Pete is a First Nations sculptor, poet, mechanic and storyteller living in Shamattawa. He was recently nominated for a Hero Award for saving his neighbor’s life by rescuing her from a burning house. Seth is an artist, animator and carpenter living in Toronto. He won the Best Canadian First Feature Film award at TIFF in 2013 for his animated feature. Asphalt Watches. This is their first creation together. It’s a very strange and wacky film – critics describe it as “the strangest and seemingly most absurd documentary in some time.” This looks super crazy and fun.
Here is the official trailer (+ posters) for the Peter & Seth Scrivers animation Endless cookiefrom YouTube:

The film unfolds like a particularly tangential fever dream – a colorful depiction of the many overlapping episodes in the brothers’ lives – from their upbringing in downtown Toronto’s Kensington Market to Pete’s current residence in a remote First Nations community in northern Manitoba. In their memories, their stories are often punctuated, interrupted or diverted by the charismatic members of their family who indulge in their own daydreams. Endless Cookie is fundamentally an impressionistic and often surreal depiction of family, but it is also a documentary about the creative process. Endless cookie is written and directed by step-brothers/filmmakers Peter Scriver & Seth Scriver (also co-director of Asphalt Watches) directing their first feature film. Produced by Seth Scriver, Dan Bekerman, Jason Ryle, Chris Yurkovich, Alex Ordanis. This was originally shown at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. Obscured Releasing debuts with Peter and Seth Scrivers Endless cookie film in select U.S. theaters starting on December 5, 2025 coming soon.
