MS Dhoni’s intense routine for IPL 2026 leaked

Legendary Indian wicketkeeper-batsman and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) legend MS Dhoni once again shows why he is different from the rest. While most people thought that MS Dhoni might retire after IPL 2025, the CSK legend has quietly started doing what he does best again, which is training hard and staying ready for the next edition of the tournament.
For the past two months, Dhoni has been following a strict daily routine at the JSCA International Stadium in Ranchi. Every afternoon around 1:30 a.m., the former Indian captain arrives at the ground, goes to the gym for an hour, then spends almost two hours in the nets working on his hitting power.

With the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy matches, Dhoni does not always have access to the main ground at the JSCA Stadium. But whenever it’s free, the legendary finisher makes full use of it by performing match-style training sessions.

After completing his batting and fitness exercises, Dhoni finishes his routine with a 30-minute swimming session before returning home at 6 p.m.
Fans from Ranchi often spotted him, riding his superbikes or vintage cars on his usual route to the stadium for nearly four and a half hours of intense training every day. But beyond the cool rides, it is clear that Dhoni is gearing up for a strong comeback with the Chennai Super Kings for the upcoming IPL 2026.

A JSCA official was quoted by The Times of India, on condition of anonymity: “His routine has been fixed over the last two months. He arrives at the stadium at 1:30 p.m., goes to the gym for an hour, then prepares and practices powerfully in the nets for two hours.
If the center wicket is available and no match is taking place, it also performs match simulations. Mahi logs out after another half hour of swimming. He leaves the complex at 6 p.m. He’s just doing the Mahi things he’s done his whole life: working hard.

MS Dhoni set for another season, CSK plans flexible role
Meanwhile, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan recently put all retirement rumors to rest by confirming that Dhoni will continue playing next season. The 44-year-old is as committed as ever, as he focuses on fitness, discipline and his batting for next season after a poor 2025 campaign.
Last week, at an event in Chennai, the CSK CEO said, “No, he is not retiring before this IPL. We hope Dhoni plays next season.” Notably, Dhoni is among the few players who have not been released by their teams in the history of the IPL, along with Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli.
With Sanju Samson set to join Chennai Super Kings from Rajasthan Royals in a trade deal, MS Dhoni may have more flexibility next season, possibly sharing wicketkeeping duties while continuing to guide the team in the tournament.
