New Netflix releases: November 2025

The end of a period of almost a decade Stranger Things saga; Guillermo del Toro’s Oscar nominee debut; an intimate behind-the-scenes look at the life of Eddie Murphy; Joel Edgerton’s best chance to be nominated for Best Actor; an epic samurai battle royale action drama; a prestigious series starring Claire Danes and Matthew Rhys; Richard Linklater’s love letter to the French New Wave; and the welcome return of Elmo and his friends are among the highlights of the new movies and TV series launching on Netflix this November.
November is a huge movie month for Netflix as awards season begins. Among the big new releases the streamer is launching this month that are worth checking out is the Taiwanese drama produced by Sean Baker. Left-handed girl (November 28). But Guillermo del Toro’s most high-profile adaptation of Frankensteinwhich will be released on the platform on November 7. Starring Oscar Isaac, Mia Goth, Christoph Waltz and Jacob Elordi as the monster, the feature debuted to massive acclaim at the Venice Film Festival, including a 14-minute standing ovation, and boasts an 85 percent critical score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Just like Frankenstein, Sesame Street came back from the dead. All-new episodes of the beloved and long-running children’s television series premiere November 10 on Netflix. The streamer came to the rescue in May by signing a deal with Sesame Workshop for new episodes of the long-running children’s series, just months after Warner Bros. Discovery chose not to renew its production deal for the program.
On November 12, Netflix releases the doc Being Eddiean intimate look at the life and career of comedy legend Eddie Murphy. Joining Murphy in the documentary are Jerry Seinfeld, Arsenio Hall, Brian Grazer, Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle, Jamie Foxx, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Jerry Bruckheimer, John Landis, Kenan Thompson, Kevin Hart, Michael Che, Ruth Carter, Tracee Ellis Ross and Tracy Morgan. Being Eddie is directed by Angus Wall and produced by John Davis, John Fox, Charisse Hewitt-Webster, Terry Leonard and Kent Kubena.
Two television titans team up for Netflix’s prestigious new series The beast in me which begins on November 13. Starring Emmy winner Claire Danes and Welsh superstar Matthew Rhys, the eight-episode series is a dramatic thriller about a man named Nile (Rhys) – previously suspected of killing his wife – moves into a house near Danes’ Wiggs, a grieving author. Brittany Snow and Natalie Morales round out the main cast, alongside Jonathan Banks, David Lyons, Tim Guinee, Hettienne Park, Deidre O’Connell, Aleyse Shannon, Will Brill, Kate Burton, Bill Irwin, Amir Arison and Julie Ann Emery.
Also on November 13, Netflix launches an action series Last Samurai Standinga project that has the strong potential to become the streamer’s Asian success in November. A live-action television series adaptation of the Japanese manga series written by Shogo Imamura, The Logline of Last Samurai Standing reads: “Set in the late 19th century, during the Meiji period, as the samurai era neared its end, Last Samurai Standing takes place at Tenryuji Temple in Kyoto. As night falls, 292 samurai warriors gather, lured by the promise of a grand prize of 100 billion yen. Among them is our protagonist, Shujiro Saga (Junichi Okada), who embarks on this dangerous game with one goal: to save his sick wife and child.
On November 14, Netflix launches prolific Richard Linklater’s latest feature film project for the streamer, New wave. The Cannes-premiering comedy-drama is the filmmaker’s love letter to the highly influential French New Wave movement in cinema, and fictionally depicts the life of Jean-Luc Godard during the production of his classic film. Panting in 1959. The film stars Guillaume Marbeck as Godard, Zoey Deutch as Jean Seberg and Aubry Dullin as Jean-Paul Belmondo.
November 21 will see the debut of another Oscar hopeful for Netflix, Clint Bentley’s historical drama. Form dreams. The film stars Australian actor Joel Edgerton as a man who built railroads in the 1900s in the Pacific Northwest and is more of a meditation on a rapidly changing America. The cast also includes Felicity Jones, Clifton Collins Jr., Kerry Condon and William H. Macy. After premiering at Sundance this year, the film has steadily received critical acclaim, and The Hollywood ReporterThe awards editor predicts that the film has a strong chance of being recognized in the Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor categories.
And on November 26, the first part of the last season of the phenomenon will begin Stranger Thingsnot only Netflix’s biggest project of November, but undoubtedly the streamer’s biggest for 2025. We return to Hawkins, Indiana, in the fall of 1987 as the young ones face once again Vecna, ruler of the Upside Down World, and prepare for a final showdown.
The season five cast includes Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Maya Hawke, Brett Gelman, Priah Ferguson, Jamie Campbell Bower, Cara Buono and Amybeth McNulty.
