Coastal Flood Warning affecting 3 New Jersey counties through Thursday evening

At 3:57 a.m. Thursday, the National Weather Service issued a Coastal Flood Advisory effective between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. for Hudson, Essex and Union counties.

The weather service comments: “One to two feet of flooding above ground level is expected in vulnerable areas near the oceanfront and shoreline. »

“Minor flooding of the most vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline. Some roads and low-lying properties, including parking lots, parks, lawns, and homes and businesses with basements near the waterfront, will experience minor flooding,” the weather service comments. “If travel is necessary, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or into water of unknown depth. Take necessary steps to protect properties subject to flooding.”
