Indian middle-order batter KL Rahul has revealed a funny story from his friendly banter with England great Kevin Pietersen during the IPL 2025 season. Kevin Pietersen was the mentor for Delhi Capitals during IPL 2025, where KL Rahul represented the same franchise.
Rahul, who recently returned to India after the ODI series in Australia, had joined Delhi Capitals after leaving Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

Recently, the Karnataka slugger shared that things had become so playful between him and Pietersen that he jokingly complained to the former England slugger’s wife Jessica, saying her husband was “too rude” to him during training.
The right-handed batter also revealed that his wife Athiya Shetty also teased him after watching some of those viral clips posted by Delhi Capitals on social media. The videos showed Rahul and Pietersen constantly taunting each other during training sessions and match days.

KL Rahul said on the YouTube podcast 2 Sloggers: “Our banter is different. It’s a great sport. He gives it to you too. There was this video, and there was a couple of times where I said something, and DC posted it on Instagram. So my wife was like, ‘Why are you so mean? He’s such a nice guy.'”
The Indian slugger revealed that the funny moments fans saw online with Pietersen were just a small part of their daily banter. He shared that Pietersen continues to tease him all the time and only a few of these moments are actually shared online.
Rahul added: “I said, ‘Half the things he does and says to me don’t come out.’ That’s three times I’ve given out of the 100 times he’s after my life.

Meanwhile, Rahul shared a funny story from his England tour, recalling how he jokingly complained to Pietersen’s wife Jessica at a dinner party.
He told Jessica to ask Kevin to be a little nicer to him since he was always teasing him, leaving everyone laughing and emphasizing the friendly bond they share.
He finished by saying: “I complained to his wife when we were in the UK. They invited me to dinner and I said, ‘Tell your husband to go easy on me.’ He’s very rude to me.”
KL Rahul’s dream run from IPL 2025 to England tour
Rahul had a fantastic run in IPL 2025 with Delhi Capitals. Although he joined the season a little late, he quickly became the best player on the team. In just 13 matches, Rahul has scored 539 runs at an impressive average of almost 54, comprising two centuries and two half-centuries.
His strong form continued during India’s tour of England, where he accumulated 532 runs in 10 innings. Rahul hit two centuries and two fifties and played a key role in India’s equalizer in the five-match Test series 2-2 in England under the captaincy of Shubman Gill.
