“This is what conservation looks like.” Kaleidoscope Ent. has revealed the official trailer for a documentary film simply titled Rhinocerosa vital story about saving rhinos in Kenya. Narrated by the Oscar nominee Tom Hardythe film follows a daring mission to save the critically endangered black rhino against all odds. A dedicated ranger protected his black rhino the population is so good (there are only about 6,000 left in the world), that they have no more space. Surrounded by ruthless bandits, the rhinos risk turning against each other. His team is launching a vast plan to move 21 rhinos across the country to give them a new refuge. Highlighting the daily struggles experienced by those who risk their lives to protect biodiversity, while giving voice to those on the other side of armed conflict, this authentic and impactful film – made from 4 years of life and work within Kenya’s conservation community – is both timely and urgent, as the violence of banditry spirals out of control and the demand for illicit rhino horns climbs ever higher. With only 6000 black rhinos left on earth, a dedicated forest ranger, A little bithas made it its mission to protect the species against wind and tide. With around 5% of the world’s population poached each year, Kiloku’s team in Kenya has not lost a single rhino in almost 10 years… A remarkable feat, but not without consequences. They are running out of space. Surrounded by ruthless bandits, the rhinos in his sanctuary risk turning against each other in a death match for territory. With the help of a newly trained ranger named Rita, the two launch a daring plan to move a group of the formidable herd to a new safe haven, 60 miles to the west. A potentially life-threatening mission, but one that the team is willing to risk their lives to help launch a new population and continue the incredible conservation efforts underway in Kenya.
Rhinoceros is a documentary film directed by a renowned filmmaker/doc filmmaker Tom MartienssenTV documentary director Gaucho: the last cowboys of Patagonia and a few other short films; as well as a cinematographer on many other adventure and nature documentaries. Produced by James May, Cassandra Roberts, Tom Martienssen. As far as we know, this hasn’t premiered at any festivals or anywhere else. Kaleidoscope launches Martienssen Rhinoceros doc in UK cinemas from November 28, 2025 this fall. No US release planned yet – stay tuned.
