Harlan Coben’s Lazarus Becomes a Streaming Hit

Harlan Coben‘s new horror-thriller TV show, with a 42% Rotten Tomatoes score, is scaring up streaming success just days after its release. Coben’s television adaptations have been a cornerstone of mystery and thriller streaming in recent years. He has developed several series, mainly under Netflix and Amazon MGM Studios, with productions around the world.

His new series, Lazarusis entirely original for television. Developed for Prime Video by Coben and Danny Brocklehurst, the six-episode horror thriller series follows a forensic psychiatrist, Laz (Sam Clafin), who begins investigating unsolved murders after the death of Dr. Lazarus (Bill Nighy), his father. The show has a score of 42% on Rotten Tomatoes, reporting mixed reviews.

However, FlixPatrol reports that have not stopped Lazarus to become a key streaming success for Prime Video. Although criticism for Lazarus hasn’t been as stellar as other shows based on Coben’s work, audiences seem to have a different opinion of the series from critics. This is reflected not only in its worldwide success, but also in its audience score of 68% on Rotten Tomatoes and 6.3 out of 10 on IMDb. These report generally favorable reviews.

The series’ streaming performance indicates that Coben’s shows will likely remain popular, with their exciting storylines and interesting twists providing plenty of intrigue and unpredictability in the process. In the case of Lazarusits originality compared to Prime Video as well as its horror elements distinguish it from other works developed by the author. This makes it unique in terms of presentation and success.

As Lazarus is working well on Prime Video, two more adaptations of Coben’s books are preparing for release. This includes a British adaptation of his novel Run awaywhich will arrive on Netflix on January 1, 2026. Another is an American interpretation of I will find youwhich will also be released on Netflix. There is no shortage of adaptable stories.

However, LazarusIts originality sets it apart, which probably explains how it has managed to become very successful in countries around the world. With the series only being released on October 22, 2025, it has plenty of time to continue to perform well in the days and weeks to come. However, it remains to be seen how high it will climb the Prime Video charts.
