Madison Beer had new wings made for the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show

Madison Beer said a bittersweet goodbye to her first pair of angel wings.

In a new interview with Davis Burleson for SiriusXM’s TikTok Radiothe 26-year-old singer revealed the team had to design a new pair of wings after the first one proved too heavy for her headlining performance at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

“I had other giant wings and [weighed] 25 pounds. We played with them in rehearsals and I was like, “They’re literally beautiful, but I can’t play with them.” I’m going to kick a dancer off the platform, I’m so scared,” she recalls.

Beer said she “couldn’t walk” or “strut” in it because of the weight.

So what did the designers do? “They were so adorable and they made me new ones the day before,” the singer detailed, adding that the new two were not “heavy at all” and weighed a delicate 5 pounds.

When asked if she was allowed to take the wings home, Beer said the brand keeps them. “Now I’m forever part of the Victoria’s Secret Angel Week archives,” she said, noting that she might be able to keep her bedazzled baby pink look. “So I’m going to put this in a glass box and light it [up] At my house.”

There may have been a slight hiccup before his debut, but Beer only has fond memories of it. “It was so surreal and crazy. I’ve dreamed of doing this my whole life. I once went to the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and I was like, ‘I would die to be a tree prop in the background of that scene,'” she told Burleson.

Even though the wings are expected for their iconic designs, the models who wear them have been open about the training required to wear them.

Backstage at this year’s show, Alessandra Ambrosio remembers putting on a 30-pound weight. pair of wings (the “heaviest wings,” she recalls) while secretly pregnant with her six-week-old son. This year, Bella Hadid was tasked with modeling an ensemble weighing 50 pounds.

Meanwhile, Heidi Klum, who last appeared on the show in 2009, has always wanted to go big or go home. “I really liked that they chose me instead of someone else. People were like, ‘Oh, and they made us wear these wings, and da-da-da.’ I’m like, ‘I always research the wings. And I was upset if I didn’t get the big ones!’, she said in fall 2023. “I was going to the top and I was like, ‘Why do I have these little wings? I want bigger wings.’ Because for me, it always felt like a moment; This is the VS show. Everyone is watching,” Klum continued. “I don’t want small chicken wings. I want the biggest wings you can have, and I wore them proudly.”
