Best Friday College Football Bets
- Game: Charlotte 49ers vs. North Texas Mean Green, 7 p.m. ET
- The choice: more than 61.5 points
Charlotte’s defense has allowed a huge point total this season, giving up 54 points to South Florida earlier this month and 49 points to Temple last week. The 49ers haven’t given up fewer than 20 points in a game this season, which doesn’t bode well against North Texas’ explosive offense. The Mean Green put up 55 points in a blowout win over UTSA last week, which was their seventh straight game with at least 33 points to open the season. They score 48 points in the model’s latest simulations for this match, helping the Over concede 59% of the time.
- Game: Virginia Tech Hokies vs. California Golden Bears, 7:30 p.m. ET
- The choice: California (+5.5) to cover
California (5-2) has a much better record than Virginia Tech (2-5) heading into this game, but the Golden Bears don’t get a lot of respect from the betting market. They can become bowl eligible and stay directly in the ACC title race with a win Friday night. Their offense is led by true freshman quarterback Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele, who threw for 254 yards and two touchdowns in his first conference road game at Boston College on September 27. The model puts California just short of an outright victory, but the Golden Bears cover the spread 55% of the time.
- Game: Nevada Wolf Pack vs. Boise State Broncos, 10 p.m. ET
- The choice: more than 51.5 points in total
Nevada’s defense has been leaky throughout the campaign, giving up at least 30 points three times while allowing 28 points per game overall. Boise State may no longer have Ashton Jeanty leading its backfield, but he’s still scored more than 40 points five times this season. The Broncos scored 56 points against UNLV last week, after scoring 41 against New Mexico the week before. They’ve gone over the total in five of their last six games, and the pattern went over the total by conceding 63% of the time on Friday.
