Airbnb Inc. CEO Brian Chesky said he hasn’t integrated his company’s online travel app with OpenAI’s ChatGPT because the startup’s connection tools aren’t “quite ready” yet.
Airbnb will monitor the development of ChatGPT’s app integrations and may consider a tie-up similar to that of peers Booking Holdings Inc. and Expedia Group Inc. in the future, Chesky said in an interview.
“I didn’t think it was quite ready,” he said of ChatGPT’s integration capabilities. Since Airbnb is a community with verified members, OpenAI will need to build a platform so robust that the Airbnb app can run within the ChatGPT chatbot in a “nearly autonomous way,” Chesky said.
