Tracking the NFC South after Week 6

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Last match: 30-19 victory against the San Francisco 49ers (4-2)

Offensive strengths: Lieutenant Tristan Wirfs

Returning to the lineup after missing the Bucs’ first three games due to injury, Wirfs quickly found himself back in shape. He played well as a run and pass blocker, and his presence elevated the entire offensive line.

Defensive strengths: CB Jamel Doyen

Dean did a little bit of everything for the Bucs defense, including a sack, a forced fumble and a crucial interception late in the game.

Needs improvement: Kick to the basket

The Buccaneers are 5-1 and should aspire to a deep playoff run. When those are your ambitions, a shaky kicking game can be quite problematic. Chase McLaughlin has missed four shots on goal this season, including one in the fourth quarter that kept San Francisco in the game.

Revealing quote: “No, this is the first time I’ve heard that. And I hope it’s the last. I can’t do what Mike Vick ever did.” – Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield on his scrambling comps for the Falcons legend.

Following : Monday, 7 p.m. ET @ Detroit Lions (4-2)
