Boston Blue’s 100% RT Score Surpasses Blue Bloods

CBS’ new hit show Boston Blue has already received rave reviews as it receives a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes just days after the release of its first episode. The crime drama spin-off series with a score of 100% (at the time of publishing this article) is ahead of its predecessor, Blue blooda decent amount.

Boston Blue’s impeccable score not only beats its flagship show’s overall Rotten Tomatoes score over 14 seasons, but also that of its very first season. The original series scored an average of 80% compared to the series as a whole. And its first installment received an 84% rating on the review aggregation site.

Originally published on September 24, 2010, Blue blood was a popular police procedural drama and ran for over a decade. It followed the lives of the Reagan family and the New York police force. The series featured many famous actors. Its all-star cast included Tom Selleck (Frank Reagan), Donnie Wahlberg (Danny Reagan), Will Estes (Jamie Reagan), Marisa Ramirez (Maria Baez), Andrew Terraciano (Sean Reagan), Bridget Moynahan (Erin Reagan), Len Cariou (Henry Reagan), and more.

Shortly after the series’ cancellation in 2024, its spin-off, Boston Blue, was announced. In the new show, Danny moved to Massachusetts after accepting a position with the Boston Police Department. While the Reagan family will still be a large part of the franchise’s latest installment, this one will also focus on one group of characters, the Silver family. Its action-packed first episode saw a lot of new faces and featured some actors from Blue blood (Moynahan and Ramírez).

Its premiere, on October 17, 2025, was met with audiences praising Wahlberg’s performance as he reprized his role as Danny. Viewers also took to social media and online forums to rave about the series and predict its future success after watching just one episode.

Boston Blue will release new episodes every Friday at 10:00 p.m. ET and 7:00 p.m. PT on CBS.
