Harmanpreet Kaur completes 1000 World Cup runs including 50, Smriti Mandhana also in great shape

With her first fifty runs at the 2025 Women’s World Cup, Harmanpreet Kaur brought up her 1000 runs in the tournament.
After England set India a steep target of 289, it was Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana, the two-most experienced batters in the team, who rose to the occasion. In a must-win situation, the skipper Harman slammed her first fifty of the tournament, and also brought 1000 runs vs England, an opposition she fancies. She also managed to reach 1000 runs in the Women’s World Cups too.
Harmanpreet Kaur Finally Shines
The 36-year-old came in at a time when India were struggling at 42/2 in 10 overs, but provided stability to the team with her fighting innings. In fact, Mandhana too brought up her fifty after starting a little slowly, which happened to be her second in the tournament. She too scored her 1000th run vs England during the course of her innings.
Smriti Mandhana in Top Form Too
Just talking about their record vs England — Harmanpreet in 28 matches averages 47.85, with three tons and six fifties. On the other hand, Mandhana in 21 innings averages 52, with nine fifties to her name. The duo, at one point even brought up the 100 partnership together.
As far as the first innings is concerned, Heather Knight went on to score 108 runs — her third ton in the format, and second in the Women’s World Cups. She made sure that her team reached to a good total of 288. At the top of the order, Amy Jones scored 56 while Nat Sciver-Brunt chipped in with a valuable 38.
Out of the Indian bowlers, Deepti Sharma was the best of the lot, returning with figures of 4/51. Sree Charani picked up two wickets, while there were two run outs as well.
