THE NEW DAIRIO, SANTO DOMINGO. – The Professional Baseball League of the Dominican Republic (LIDOM) has decided to reject the registration of pitchers Emmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz on the Estrellas Orientales squad for the 2025-2026 winter season, which begins this Wednesday.
According to journalist Enrique Rojas of ESPN, both players are under investigation by the Major Leagues (MLB) for their alleged ties to sports betting.
Even though MLB has not issued any official suspension and has no rule that prevents its participation in Dominican baseball, LIDOM has chosen to act preventively, assuming the case as an internal matter of the winter circuit.
