NFL announces punishment for Chiefs star before Lions game

A third loss in the first five games of the season wasn’t the only disappointment in the Kansas City Chiefs’ 31-28 Week 5 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday.
Kansas City actually held a two-touchdown lead at one point, only to squander it late in the third quarter and find itself trailing 21-14 heading into the final quarter.
The Chiefs and Jaguars traded touchdowns and field goals in the fourth quarter, but Jacksonville pulled out the last-minute victory after quarterback Trevor Lawrence staged a seven-play, 60-yard touchdown drive capped by a 1-yard touchdown run that shouldn’t have been.
Lawrence actually fell twice after his own offensive lineman stomped on his foot. But he had time to get up, rush to his left and dive for the final touchdown.

Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones took a lot of heat on social media for the game after he was caught assuming Lawrence was down.
And as if the loss wasn’t bad enough, a Chiefs player was punished by the NFL on Saturday for his actions during the Jags game, just 24 hours before the Chiefs hosted the Detroit Lions at Arrowhead Stadium.

Receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown was fined $12,172 for unnecessary brutality (hit/kick/trip/knee), stemming from his altercation with Jaguars cornerback Jourdan Lewis.
Brown and Lewis got tangled during a play and continued to push each other until the whistle blew. Brown took offense to a possible late push from Lewis, and after the two clashed, Brown slapped Lewis’ facemask.
The 28-year-old was the only one flagged on the play – an unnecessary 15-yard roughness penalty. Brown finished with four catches for 48 yards in the loss.
