‘Yellowjackets’ ends with season 4 on Paramount+

The survivor Yellow vests will have one more season to go home.

The Paramount+ thriller, produced by Lionsgate TV, will conclude with its upcoming fourth season, series creators Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson said in a statement Friday evening (which they also posted on social media). A writers room for the final season is open, with production expected to begin in 2026. No premiere date has been set.

“After three incredible seasons and great consideration, we are thrilled to announce that we will be showcasing the story of Yellow vests to its twisted conclusion in this fourth and final season,” Lyle and Nickerson’s statement read. “We always knew there would come a time when the story would tell us that it wanted to end, and we believe our job – our responsibility – is to listen. Telling this moving, wild and deeply human story has been a deeply meaningful experience and a true honor for us, and we are so grateful to the brilliant cast, crew and writers who bravely took this journey with us to bring it to life. More than anything, we want to thank the fans who stayed by our side through every moment, mystery and meal: the Hive is nothing without you! We can’t wait to share the final chapter with you and hope you find it… delicious.

Lyle and Nickerson will continue as showrunners in the final season and are in talks with Paramount about expanding their relationship with the company.

Yellow vests premiered on Showtime in 2021 and became a word-of-mouth hit as it told the often wild story of a high school girls’ soccer team surviving in the Canadian wilderness after a plane crash in the late 1990s and the present-day stories of those who made it out and tried to rebuild their lives. The show’s third season ended in April, and it got a renewal — from Paramount+, which absorbed the Showtime brand as part of its Premium tier — in May.

The series has also earned 10 Emmy nominations so far, including two Outstanding Drama Series for seasons one and two.

Lyle and Nickerson previously said they were considering five seasons for Yellow vestsbut Lyle admitted The Hollywood Reporter After the Season 3 finale, “Anytime you say, ‘We’re going to do five or six seasons,’ it’s a shot in the dark and wishful thinking, just from a practical standpoint. … We think there’s more story to tell and we’re really excited to dive into it. Like you said, being able to tell the story of reassimilation into society, of seeing what horrors await them, even without the horrors of wild nature, is very exciting. But you can never really predict and we will be very grateful to continue telling the story.

The third season starred Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci, Tawny Cypress, Lauren Ambrose, Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Samantha Hanratty, Courtney Eaton, Liv Hewson, Steven Krueger, Warren Kole, Kevin Alves, Sarah Desjardins and Simone Kessell. Elijah Wood had a recurring role, and Hilary Swank, Joel McHale and Ashley Sutton guest starred.

Lyle and Nickerson executive produced the third season with co-showrunner Jonathan Lisco, Creative Engine’s Drew Comins, Jeff W. Byrd, Sarah L. Thompson, Ameni Rozsa and Brad Van Arragon.
