Was Lando Norris’ decision over Oscar Piastri in the first round unfair – and should McLaren have intervened?

Singapore provided another controversial moment within the McLaren team, as Lando Norris overtook Oscar Piastri in the opening corners of the race, with the help of a bit of contact. It was a race where we felt the growing frustration of the Australian, who once again saw his lead in the championship slip away.

There are two sides to this: the stewarding side and the team side – and it’s the latter where Piastri’s frustrations lie.

Technically speaking, it wasn’t a decision that merited a penalty from Norris. I liked the attempt. It was hard-hitting, courageous and simply had to be attempted by a driver looking to boost his title hopes after a tough qualifying session.
