Ajit Agarkar opens with the difficult decision to dismiss Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma was as successful as the captain of India as he can be placed in the “goat” category. In ODI multi-noble tournaments, he capitalized India in 27 games and won 24. He led India to the ODI 2023 World Cup final and won the 2018 Asian Cup, the Asian 2023 Cup and the ICC 2025 champions trophy.
Speaking of the decision to withdraw him from the leadership despite his immense success, Ajit Agarkar said that it was a very difficult decision for them. He clearly indicated that Rohit, even if he had not won the ICC Champions Trophy, was difficult due to his contributions to the team over the years.
“Even if he had not won the Champions Trophy, it would have been a difficult decision because of the quality of India. But you sometimes have to look at what is happening,” said Agarkar, speaking to the media.
“Where you are a team and possibly look at what is in the best interest of the team. Whether it’s now or maybe six months later. These are the calls I assume you have to make,” added Agarkar.
