EDC Weekend: 2 deaths reported in Las Vegas | LOS VEGAS Local

Clark county officials were investigating the separate death of two people who, according to the police, were in Las Vegas to attend the Daisy Carnival Dance Electric Daisy music festival.
Azmi Atassi, 33, from Flagstaff, Arizona, and Opkar Mahal, 39, from North Las Vegas, both died on Sunday, according to the Coroner’s office in Clark. The causes of death were still pending.
Mahal was reported dead at the festival, which took place in Las Vegas Motor Speedway, in the 7000 block on boulevard North of Las Vegas, said a county spokesperson, while Assassi was reported to the Hilton Grand Vacations Club at 2650 Las Vegas Boulevard South.
A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police Department said on Tuesday afternoon, in a statement, he would examine the deaths. The police said that one of the dead had a medical episode when he was in EDC and had been transported to the university medical center where they died later, while another was discovered dead in their hotel room and would have been in Las Vegas to attend the festival.
