The perfect horror film by Jesse Williams & Chris Hemsworth is a streaming success 14 years later

In the 1996 horror classic “Scream”, the story takes an incredibly aware turn when the character of Jamie Kennedy, the Lycée Randy Meeks, begins to explain the “rules” to survive a horror film to a heap of his friends during a party, apparently to fear that he lives in one. Not only that, but Randy stresses that archetypes like “the Virgin” generally survive, making everyone laugh when he says that you cannot go down and dirty and hope to survive a horror film. Without these specific jokes, it is possible that a film as dark and frightening as “The Cabin in the Woods” has never been existed.

Directed by Drew Goddard (also known for creating “Daredevil”, working on “The Good Place”, and the 2018 “Bad Times at the El Royale”) and written by Goddard and Joss Whedon “,” The Cabin in the Woods “, which was released in 2011, stunned with its intelligent and strangely hilarious publication on a potential experience of horror movies. This film, they emerge from underground bunkers. Flixpatrol.

So that you have never seen “The Cabin in the Woods” or that you revisit the film for the very first time, what is the problem with this innovative horror film? Also, will it ever get a suite? (I bet no, but you can never say it these days.)

What is the cabin in the woods, and why does it work so well?

While “The Cabin in the Woods” opens, we meet our stereotypical group of college students: the “Virgin” Dana Polk (Kristen Connolly), the athlete Curt Vaughan (Chris Hemsworth), the “whore” Jules Louden (Anna Hutchison), the “Fool” Marty Mikalski (French) and the “Scholar” head for the eponymous cabin in the woods for a getaway. What they do not know is that this cabin is in fact a kind of bizarre experimental site led by a conglomerate known only as “the installation”, and we spend a lot of time with two installation technicians, Gary Siteron (Richard E. Jenkins) and Steve Hadley (Bradley Whitford), which can control the cabin of their strange bounk. After freeing drugs in the air of the cabin to make students easier to handle, the group of five checks the horrible basement of the cabin and all find different artefacts; When Dana reads aloud in a newspaper belonging to a dead girl for a long time called Patience Buckner, Gary and Steve Sic the undead bodies of the Buckner family on adolescents.

Holden, Jules and Curt are then systematically murdered while Marty and Dana discover the installation herself, including a bunch of monsters of horror films in cages which are then published by the technicians. (A personal anecdote: I saw this film at the university and I was the only Wimporified Wimp by this sequence of monsters while the rest of the theater laughed hysterically. I am always embarrassed, and I graduated from the university much more (Sigourney Weaver). The world ends up in fact, all because Dana survives briefly (well, before she and Marty is exploding at the very end of the film).

Will there ever be a series of the cabin in the woods?

There will probably be no follow -up This Particular cabin because of this aforementioned explosion, and more, each character you probably love from the first film (and, to date, only) “Cabin in the Woods” is extremely dead. In addition, the world has ended. Is there a world where Drew Goddard finds a way to focus on a different installation – we learn that there are facilities around the world carrying out this same experience to ensure that the old deities do not destroy the world – so yes, there could be a franchise potential here. I don’t really remember my breath, however; Honestly, there has been little or no chatter on a series of “The Cabin in the Woods” since his first outing.

I think it’s probably a good thing, however. Any new entry into a cinematographic universe centered around “The Cabin in the Woods” would feel repetitive or fragile, so even if it seems that each film is restarted or obtains a sequel in 2025, it seems unlikely. At least you can watch “The Cabin in the Woods” on HBO Max, where it is a feeling of streaming in good faith.
