The Celtic Flop 6/10 has completely “lost its Midas touch”

Celtic has failed to win three of his last five games in all competitions and has been held in a goalless draw in two of these games.

The hoops failed to break through against Hibernian in Parkhead on Saturday afternoon, despite the creation of seven “big chances” to find the bottom of the net, by Sofascore.

Brendan Rodgers will be disappointed that his team has not been able to score from 26 shots and seven “ large chances ” at home in front of their own supporters, especially because the result left them second in the table.

It will be doubly frustrating because the Scottish giants also had six “big chances” to score against the star of Red Belgrade in the Europa League on Thursday evening, but only marked once.

This means that Celtic scored a 13 ‘big chances’ goal created in the last two games against the red star Belgrade and Hibernian, who does not paint their attack in the best light.

Kelechi Iheanacho was the player who scored in the draw against the Serbian side in the middle of the week, with a terrible finish in the upper corner, but he lost his Mojo for the confrontation with Hibernian.

Why Kelechi Iheanacho let Celtic fall against Hibernian

The sniper on the left foot made an excellent start to his career in Parkhead with a first goal, from the penalty spot, against Kilmarnock to win the match in the 96th minute.

Iheanacho then recorded a decisive pass for Sebastian Tounekti against Partick Thistle in the League Cup during his second outing, before scoring an excellent goal against the red star Belgrade in the Europa League.

His contributions through these three games earned him a start in the number nine against Hibernian, after leaving the bench in the games to score against Kilmarnock and the star of Red Belgrade.

Iheanacho could not rely on these promising cameos, however, because his performance against Hibernian left a little too much to be desired, in particular with his game in front of the goal in the draw 0-0.

The Nigerian international played the first 67 minutes of the match against Hibs and was unable to break before the goal, despite the team that created enough chances for him to do so.

As you can see in the table above, his teammates helped him take four shots on goal and have two “ large chances ”, but he wasted his opportunities, including one near range which struck the crossbar.

The former sniper from Seville, who arrived in Parkhead as a free agent, hopes that he will be able to improve his efficiency in front of the goal when he returns to the sharpness of the match, since the confrontation with Hibernian was only his second start to the season.

Iheanacho has lost its touch of scorer for the shock of the weekend, having scored in two of his first three games, but there is another player in the team whose decline of form in front of the goal is even more worrying.

Rodgers unleashed Daizen Maeda on the right side against Hibernian, with Iheanacho through the Middle and Sebastian Tounekti on the left side, and the Japanese international has produced a disappointing exhibition.

Daizen Maeda lost her Midas touch for Celtic

During the 2024/25 campaign, it seemed that everything Maeda had touched turned to goals. He finished the season with a return of 33 goals in 51 appearances in all competitions, according to TransferMarkt.

Japanese eligible, which scored 16 goals in Scottish first, won the player of the year in Scotland, thanks to its prolific form in front of the goal.

Unfortunately, it currently seems that the exploits of last season were a flash in the pan for the 27 -year -old striker, whose production in front of the goal has decreased since the end of the 2024/25 campaign.

As explained in the clip below of the Daily Record program, Maeda “lost her Midas touch” for Rodgers at the upper end of the field on the evidence of this season so far.

The Celtic striker missed two “big chances”, as much as Iheanacho, while playing on the right wing against Hibernian, by Sofascore, and obtained a note of 6/10 player from 67hailhail.

Unfortunately, the missing “big chances” have become a theme for the Japanese international this season in the Premiership, because he failed to start his campaign of 33 last goals.

As you can see in the table above, Maeda’s conversion rate dropped by 15% in the first, which shows that it was far too wasted with its shots in the current season.

A possible explanation for his decline in form is the fact that he has missed a Summer Summer of Parkhead. During his pre-Hibernian press conference, Rodgers suggested that the attacker could have something “subconscious” holding his performances because of this decision which failed.

Maeda scored 33 goals last season and may have been delighted to switch to a large European league, but the hoops were unable to replace him late in the window, and stay in Parkhead had perhaps been difficult to take.

It is, of course, speculation, but the commentary of Rodgers about the question of that of “subconscious” indicates that this is a possible reason for the attacker to lose his Midas touch before the goal.

Hopefully Maeda will be able to get back on the right track and start showing fatal efficiency in the last third who led him to win the player’s first year’s player award last year.
