The Tony Hawk roller board of the first 900 is sold $ 1.15 million

Tony Hawk skateboard used to win an unprecedented 900 in competition sold 1.152 million dollars at auction on Wednesday.

Julien’s Auctions, who managed the sale of the roller board, said that the final price was about double the estimate of the presale. Hawk was on site for the Los Angeles auction, which also accepted online offers. The buyer was not disclosed.

Hawk, 57, had shared his hopes for whom would buy the roller board earlier this month.

“I hope that it is someone who really appreciates it or that this event or this object meant something for them and it is not only a flex because it has money. I suppose that is what worries me,” said Hawk. “… I would be delighted if he is someone who had a link with skating or may he be displayed somewhere so that others can see him.”

Other 900 items were also sold on Wednesday, including $ 115,200 for the Hawk helmet, $ 64,000 for sneakers and $ 57,600 for its knees. Additional articles throughout Hawk’s career were also part of the auction.

Hawk said the product of the auction will go to its non -profit organization The Skatepark, which aims to build skate parks in poorly served areas.

Trailblazer in skateboarding sport, Hawk won the 900 during the X Games in San Francisco in June 1999. He was gold medalist at 10 times.
