One of the most controversial science fiction films of all time is a streaming success 13 years later

How long does it take for the public to finally catch up on the real size and in advance? About 13 years old, apparently. It seems almost picturesque to look back now and remember, but director Ridley Scott made his debut for the first time “Prometheus” in 2012 at a time when the “Alien” franchise had not seen a single new episode for more than a decade and a half. (No, we do not have any of these crossing experiences “Alien vs Predator” in mid-aers, thank you very much.) Hype quickly reached a summit of all time while fans were impatiently awaiting this prequel film, which claimed to explore the events that preceded those of Scott de Scott in 1979 Horror / Sci-Fi Classic. What the public received turned out to be a very A different and much more esoteric approach to the universe – an approach that invited some of the noisiest and most vitrioral reactions that we had experienced to blockbuster from the “Star Wars” prequelles.

It’s funny how things change however, right? Or, to put it in the words of our favorite synthetic life form with a taste for murder: “Big things have little beginnings.” “Prometheus” presents a casting of stars, including Noomi Rapace as Elizabeth Shaw, Logan Marshall-Green as Charlie Holloway, Charlize Theron as Meredith Vickers, Idris Elba as a Janek ship pilot, a pre- “Mission: Impossible” “Sean Harris as Fifield, Benedict Wong Age). But the choice of division and controversial of Scott to place David by Michael Fassbender in such an importance – making him essentially responsible for all the chaos of xenomorph which takes place in the first “extraterrestrial” film – was only one of the many narratives which contributed to the less than stellar response to its release.

The last years, however, has seen something of a sea change. “Prometheus” and its direct suite, “Alien: Covenant”, have since won their share of vocal supporters. (For the record, / film has been ahead of the curve on “Prometheus” for some time now.) And now, finally, it seems that streaming the public has (re) discovered this ambitious, discreet and otherwise fascinating artifact for themselves.

Prometheus kills him on HBO Max

Never underestimate the instinctive and primitive need for humanity to discover more where we come – regardless of the cost. Okay, I’m not saying that fully Explain the love of “Prometheus” in streaming these days, but well, it cannot hurt! Although far from a full portrait for the public as a whole, visualization analyzes on the last Tour-up for HBO Max paint a fairly convincing image. The third -party FlixPatrol website criticized the figures, revealing that Scott’s passion project fell for the 10 best stream films watched on the day of publication. Is it a product of “Alien: Earth” buzzing on FX and Hulu? Or a sign of invigorated interest following “Alien: Romulus” and the announcement of his next continuation? The Arc of the Universe can be long, but we choose to believe that it has always folded towards the recovery of revisionism “Prometheus”, the friends!

In all honesty, there are certainly many valid reasons for which moviegoers have no seriousness towards this big budget oddity at the start. Even before all the drama behind the scenes was revealed, revealing that “Prometheus” underwent a somewhat tortured production process and heavy script revisions, a large part of the film felt almost designed to alienate (only planned word game) its own target demography. A prequel film that exchanged the existential fear of the first “extraterrestrial” against a much more meditative, mythological and almost spiritually tilted journey in the origin of our species was always a difficult sale for those who were impatiently awaiting a conventional crowd pleasure. Add the retroactive additions to the cannon involving mysterious and divine engineers, the xenomorph as a biological army, and even the not so subtle allusions to the idea of the Extraterrestrial Jesus space? Yes, not surprising that it sparked a nest of Hornet’s speech at the time.

Are we for a new era of “Prometheus” (and “Alien: Covenant”) of appreciation? Maybe, maybe not. But let’s say it in this way: all our proselytism that “Prometheus” is in fact a crucial and necessary part of the global franchise no longer feels as the warmest of the catch. In a few more years, if Scott manages to finish his trilogy with this proposed suite “Alien: Awakening”, perhaps the defenders “Prometheus” who have suffered for a long time after all.
