Dallas Turner must intervene for MN Vikings

If McCarthy can become the quarter-rear that they hope to be and Turner can become a force, the Vikings will have taken impact players in vital positions in the same project and will have young basic players around who to build.

If McCarthy and Turner do not become impact players, the Vikings will have to continue to count on agents and free veterans.

They have built a large list, but this approach will possibly lead to an old list too paid, and would require coach Kevin O’Connell and his staff to continue doing miracles with recycled quarters like Sam Darnold.

Before Turner, the last time the Vikings wrote an assist in the first round, it was 2014, when they chose Anthony Barr of the UCLA. I remember talking to a Vikings manager on the sidelines at the training camp for a summer. He watched Barr and said, “He’s a good versatile player. If he wants to be a star, he will have to learn to beat the offensive plated.”

Barr has never developed this competence.

Turner, at this stage, cannot even exceed the tight ends.
