The republican senator Ted Cruz of Texas strongly criticized the president of the Federal Communications Commission Brendan Carr for his comments related to the host of the late evening Jimmy Kimmel shortly before ABC withdraws his show.
Cruz accused Carr of having threatened to cancel ABC’s dissemination permit against Kimmel’s remarks on the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
“He says:” We can do it in the simplest way, or we can do it to the hard “”, said the senator about Carr in the last episode of his podcast, “Verdict with Ted Cruz”, which was broadcast on Friday morning.
“And I must say that it is completely out of Goodfellas,” said Cruz, referring to the film of the classic crowd.
“It is completely out of a mafioso who enters a bar,” beautiful bar you have here, it would be a shame that something happened. “”
Cruz’s comments disagreed him with President Donald Trump, who applauded Kimmel’s suspension and then called Carr “exceptional”.
Cruz noted that he was not a fan of Kimmel and said he was “delighted to have been dismissed” on his comments on Kirk.
“But let me tell you that if the government begins to say that we do not say what you said that you have said, we are going to prohibit yourself if you don’t say what we love, it will end in bad conservatives,” said Cruz.
Kimmel, who was suspended but not dismissed, said in his opening monologue on Monday evening that “Le Gang Maga” “desperately tries to characterize this child who murdered Charlie Kirk as something other than one of them and do everything they can to score political points”.
Wednesday – A few hours before ABC and the local news distributor became “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” – Carr slammed Kimmel for a long time during an appearance on the podcast of the right commentator Benny Johnson.
ABC has “a license granted by us to the FCC, and this is accompanied by an obligation to operate in the public interest,” said Carr.
“But frankly, when you see things like that, I mean, look, we can do it the simplest way or the hard way,” he said. “These companies can find ways to change driving, act, frankly, on Kimmel, or you know, there will be additional work for the FCC to come.”
