Sam Surridge: English leading Lionel Messi in MLS Golden Boot Race

The former England of England under 21, which is now 27 years old, began his professional career with Bournemouth.

The loans followed in the local non -leagues Weymouth and Poole teams, the Ligue two Yeovil and Oldham clubs, then the Swansea championship.

He then went to Stoke and Nottingham Forest for permanent agreements – and helped them at the Premier League in 2022-2023.

“You have to ask this guy how many different clubs he played,” said his teammate Mls Alex Muyl.,, external

“We do something in pre-season where we are talking about our trip, and he spent the first five minutes enumerating the clubs in which he was.”

However, he was never the most prolific with his eight goals League Two in 2017-2018 (for Yeovil) and 2018-19 (for Oldham), his best league traits in England.

He scored once in the Premier League in 20 games for Forest before moving to the United States for around 5 million pounds sterling in 2023.

Surridge scored 12 goals last season in MLS and scored 21 this season.

His 43 goals in total for Nashville make him the second top scorer of the club. They were founded in 2016 and joined MLS in 2020.

He has no European gold shoes.

“When you play against men, for example, League two, and it’s not easier when you leave and you are 19, 20 years old and you have to try to grind a victory, and it’s wet and it is rainy,” said Surridge on the MLS website this summer.

“I think it was important to me, where I learned that from an early age, and that, let’s hope, now shows where I have this experience of trying to grind victories, and it comes more natural.

“It is definitely a different path, I would say, what many other players do. But it is the one who, I think, put me in good place now. I have experienced lots of different types of football.”
