Salford Red Devils is not one of the nine clubs to have submitted official requests to consider for the expansion of the Super League at 14 teams in 2026.

Rugby Football League (RFL) revealed the final list of candidates on Monday, but Salford, which remains mired in financial difficulties, has not joined his colleagues from the current Super League Huddersfield Giants and Hull FC to apply.

The other seven clubs wishing to be considered for the expansion to two teams come from the second level championship division.

These are Bradford Bulls, Doncaster, London Broncos, Oldham, Toulouse Olympique, Widnes Vikings, York Knights.

The composition of the Super League 2026 will be confirmed on October 16, the club’s rating process confirming the first 12 posts, before a panel decides if there are solid applications to add two other clubs.
