Scottie Scheffler shares real feelings on Ben Griffin after a narrow victory

Ben Griffin looked for every chance of winning the Procore Championship on Sunday. And the competitor of the Ryder Cup was indeed in his clearest form when he led the charge during the final round, corresponding to Scottie Scheffler with a blow.
But the pages turned to the 14th hole by 4 when Griffin made a bogey and could not recover from the shift.
Scheffler held his nerve. A birdie on the 15th of Par-5 gave him the advantage, and he closed at 19 to secure his 19th PGA Tour in Napa.
But the world n ° 1 clearly said that the moment was not only his victory.
After the final putt has dropped, Scheffler kissed Griffin with a hug and recognized not only the tight finish, but the Griffin fight brought to the course.
“I think Ben (Griffin) has always believed that he was going to be here. I don’t know if he was an accountant or (loan mortgage agent),” said Scheffler to journalists at the post-tournoi press conference.
“When you talk to Ben,” continued Scheffler, “he’s a guy who has a lot of confidence, he has a lot of self -confidence. This is what we like to be part of our Ryder Cup team.”
Scheffler did not retain his praise, reflecting on the journey and the growth of the double winner.
“I grew up with Ben. He always had the talent to do it here. He was a huge putter for his everything – as long as I know him, and his ball ball has really arrived, and he also accelerated the speed.”
Scheffler added how Griffin “put … a ton of work and he always seeks to improve. He never lacked confidence and he will be part of our Ryder Cup team this year, and I’m sure he will also be part of many teams in the future.”
Griffin’s last round, 68, left him short, but his performance did not go unnoticed. Scheffler expressed his feelings that he impatiently awaited for his return.
“I was lucky to be the winner this week, but (Griffin) bounce back. I am delighted that he is in my team in a few weeks. I am delighted not to have to play against him.”
The Procore championship served as the final update of Team USA before the Ryder Cup with Black Bethpage, and seven of the 10 players of the Ryder Cup on the field finished in the top 25.
