“Below average with bat and ball”

Former Indian opener Kris Srikkanth qualified Pakistan No Match for Team India in the next clash of the 2025 Asian Cup in Dubai on Sunday, September 14. The two teams participate in the competition after convincing the victories on the United Arab Emirates and Oman, respectively, to launch their campaign.

India and Pakistan were impressive in T20i in the tournament. The men in blue had won 25 of their last 28 games, including the 2024 World Cup, before the current Asian Cup. Meanwhile, Pakistan defeated the Antilles in a bilateral series before winning the trial involving Afghanistan and the United Arab Emirates.

Speaking of the Pakistani part before the shock against their arc rivals on its YouTube channel, Srikkanth said (5:00):

“Pakistan is a side lower than the average with the bat and the ball. Even Shaheen Afridi is nothing deadly. Yes, they have beaten an Oman side full of players above 34-35. This team is full of uncles. So, beating them shows nothing. At my age, even I can see how it is now against young Indians.”

He added:

“Mohammad Haris scored yesterday, but his range of strikes is limited to the square leg and in the middle of the counter.”

Unlike popular belief, India and Pakistan were shoulder to shoulder during their latest T20i meetings. It is 3-2 in favor of men in blue in their previous five T20i head-to-head, Pakistan winning two of their three meetings in Dubai.
