Charlie Kirk Shooting: Person of interest not suspicious, shooter still in freedom

The two people of interest placed in police custody by the UTAH police investigating the murder of right -wing activist Charlie Kirk were released and are not considered suspect, the authorities responsible for the application of laws announced on Wednesday. The suspect is still on this subject in general and no details about them is known.

Kirk was killed Wednesday afternoon after being killed once in the neck during a speech event at the University of Utah Valley in Orem, Utah.

The day after the shooting, local police arrested a man named George Zinn, whom they later determined “did not correspond to the suspect of shooting and was not a person of exact interest”. He was released, but for reasons which were not made public, he was accused of obstruction by the UVU police.

Police also took a second person who was interested in detention at the same time, a man by the name of Zachariah Qureshi that he was released after questioning and in a statement on Wednesday evening, the Utah Ministry of Public Security said in a statement on Wednesday evening that there were no current links with the shooting “for one or the other of these men, and that the search for the suspect does not take place.

A second person of interest was also placed in detention at the same time. Their release was announced by the director of the FBI, Kash Patel, just before 5:00 p.m. Pacific.

FBI director Kash Patel initially announced the release of Qureshi in an article on social networks. This announcement occurred about an hour and a half after saying that the unidentified person then was in fact the suspect, a local assertion police was immediately contradicted at a chaotic press conference held around 3.30pm Pacific.

The authorities say that the shooter shot Kirk in a neighboring building, a distance between 100 and 200 meters – it is one or two football fields. Due to the circumstances – a single blow was drawn, it was not a mass shot, and the shooter seems to have immediately left the scene – the authorities believe that Kirk was the specific objective.

However, despite speculations, mainly among the conservatives, that the murder of Kirk was committed by a person opposed to him politically from the left, nothing is known about who is the shooter or what motivated them.

Police also did not publish details that could help identify the shooter, and in what may be an indication that the authorities have no such information about them, the FBI has set up a tip line.
