Coco Gauff and his father broke their own personal rule after the American star obtained his first Grand Slam at the US Open in 2023.
Aged 19 at the time, Gauff overcome Aryna Sabalenka in three sets at Flushing Meadows with a 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory.
The teenager was naturally emotional while she wore a spectacular victory and collapsed on the ground while the crowd of the house rose around her.
Gauff then shared a hug with Sabalenka and the tears started to sink while it was adding the fans inside the Arthur Ashe stadium.
But in an Instagram video live after the final, she revealed that she was not expecting to break out crying and explained why she did not like to show her emotions in front of the world.

Gauff underlined a video when she was only nine years old who made movements inside the Arthur Ashe stadium as a reason for her tears, and admitted that she felt pressure on the court.
“If you have been following me for some time, you know that it was something that the world took me at a young age,” she told her subscribers two years ago.
“I’m just happy to have finally been able to overcome all of this to do it.
“So it’s where tears come from and just a little shock when I finished the match. You all saw the video where I was nine years old, I think this girl was crying, to be honest.
“I don’t think I was crying, to be honest, I think this girl in the video was crying because I don’t like to cry. Not in front of people. I’m going to cry alone, I will cry on a movie or a television show but in front of people, no.”
Gauff’s father was also in tears after his historic victory.
But, like his daughter, Corey is normally in the face of stone and not one to show a lot of emotion.

This is why his reaction to Gauff’s victory over Sabalenka in 2023 was so surprising.
“I am like my father, for real,” said the tennis star at the time, after the pair shared an embrace in tears in the stands.
“Today was the first time I saw my father cry.
“He doesn’t want me to tell you all, but he got caught in 4K. He thinks he’s so hard, but he’s not.”
Two years after this victory at Flushing Meadows, Gauff returns to the US Open as a double home champion recently created.
While she failed on the biggest stages in 2024, she succeeded better this year and obtained the title of France Open in June with a return victory against Sabalenka n ° 1.
