Documentary of Venice ‘Past Future continues’ Sobbed by Taskovski Films

Taskovski Films has acquired international sales rights for the documentary by Morteza Ahmadvand and Firouzeh Khosrovani “Past Future continuous”, which has its world premiere at Venice Days, a side bar of the Venice Film Festival.
Khosrovani’s film in 2020 “Radiography of a family” won 34 prizes, including two at IDFA.
“Past future continuous” is centered on Maryam, who fled Iran at the age of 20, wrapped in sheepskin, hidden from a herd crossing the mountainous border between Iran and Turkey. The revolution had just triumphed and his politically active friends had been imprisoned or executed. Her family decided to save her at all costs. Maryam left Iran – and never returned.
In Iran, with the help of her friends, Maryam installs surveillance cameras in the house where her parents still live: a flickering connection with the past, projected on a screen of her American house. When the Internet in Iran is cut, the images were done or disappear, breaking Maryam’s link with his homeland.
The directors said: “The film explores the themes of memory, exile and invisible links which last despite the distance – subjects that resonate deeply with both of us.”
Irena Taskovski, CEO and responsible for acquisitions at Taskovski Films, said: “The past past” captures the universal pain of losing dear beings and never seeing them again. In the world of war, displacement and political disorders of today – this film feels in particular in a timely and powerful manner. »»
The film is produced by Fifi Film, Antipode Films, Zalab Film and Rai Cinema, in collaboration with ZDF / Arte.
The film was supported by the Idfa Bertha Fund, Visions Sud Est, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, Stichting Connected Foundation, Fritt Ord, Viken Film Bettenter, Art Council Norway, Norwegian Film Institute, Torinofilmlab and Creative Europe – European Union program.
The Italian distribution is from Zalab Film.
