Mercer University emits shelter on site `order on the” active threat “on the campus

A spokesman for Mercer said that a threat was called to university, which prompted order in the refuge in place.

Macon, Ga. – Mercer University published a refuge in place after a threat to its Macon campus, according to an emergency alert sent by the University.

An alert sent by the University says: “An active threat has been reported on the Macon campus. Shelter in place. More information to follow.”

Mercer spokesperson Jennifer Fairfield-Williams, confirmed the authenticity of the alert. Williams confirms that a threat to the campus was telephoned, which prompted the police to start a campus scan.

The university will offer additional details when they learn more.

It comes one day after an active shooting threat was reported to the Central Georgia Technical College and the Rutland High School, but the two proved to be false reports. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office thinks that these two threats were made by the same person using the same phone number.
