The Arkansas National Guard requests the authority of the application of immigration

The Arkansas National Guard asked the federal government authorities to make immigration arrests throughout the state.
Little Rock, Ark. – While the Trump administration continues to increase its application of immigration, the Arkansas National Guard has officially requested with the Agency for Immigration and Customs Application (ICE) to carry out immigration arrests.
The Arkansas National Guard, as well as the police of the State of Arkansas and other agencies of the State, seek to join the 287 (G) program, according to documents found on the ICE website.
This ice program allows the state and local police to fulfill certain immigration functions, in particular by imprisoning or arresting “criminal foreigners and immigration offenders”.
The Arkansas National Guard asked for the “labor force model” and the application is currently pending. The “labor force model” works as a “force multiplier” to “apply the limited immigration authority during the police application routine tasks”.
It is not known when the request will be approved and when the members of the guard will start the application of immigration. Arkansas state police are already approved in the same model.
The legislature led by the Republicans of Arkansas has promulgated a new law this year which allows the offices of the state sheriff to join the program.
Until now, 11 sheriff offices and two police services have been approved as part of the 287 (G) program. The Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office and the Osceola police service are awaiting approval with the Arkansas National Guard.
