Do you have recovery and / or SSD problems after recent Windows updates? You are not alone.

The other problem that some users have encountered is potentially more serious, but also more difficult to find. Tom’s equipment has a summary of the problem: at one point after installing the KB5063878 update on Windows 11 24H2, some users have started to notice problems with important file transfers on certain SSDs. When installing a large update for Cyberpunk 2077A big game that requires dozens of storage gigabytes, Windows suddenly ceased to see the SSD on which the game was installed.

The problems are apparently more pronounced on discs which are more than 60% full, when transferring at least 50 GB of data. Most SSDs were again visible after restarting the system, although a – a Western Digital Sa510 player of 2 TB – does not come back after a restart.

These problems could be specific to the configuration of this user, and the culprit may not be the update of Windows. Microsoft has not yet added the SSD problem to its list of known problems with Windows, but the company confirmed to Ars that it was studying complaints.

“We are aware of these reports and investigate our partners,” Microsoft spokesperson told Ars.

The manufacturer of the SSD controller, Phison, told Tom’s Hardware that he also examined the problem.
