More reflections on how we should think about the critical role of states

Yesterday (in this post which did not increase as a rear channel), I discussed the idea of “strategic depth” as a means of thinking about the sovereignty of states in the battle against Trumpism. I want to develop this. Because it has become quite central to my reflection on how the United States will survive over the next three and a half years and start the control process again. “Strategic depth” is mainly a concept for military studies. It refers to the form and the arrangement of the physical territory that a country controls and the proximity of its borders, which can be vulnerable to military attacks, are at its population concentrations, political and industrial centers. If all the key stuff in a country are just near a vulnerable border, this is a big problem. But in addition to the place where his key stuff is, does he have a lot of territory on which to fall back if he undergoes early defeats?
