Times Square closed its doors due to an investigation into the suspicious package – NBC New York

Police briefly closed Times Square on Monday due to information reporting a suspicious package left outside a NYPD deputy, officials said.
A cylinder style apparatus was discovered around 10:30 am in front of a gateway to the city center, according to the police. The police completed the 7th avenue between the 42nd and the 43rd street towards the traffic of pedestrians and vehicles.
The bomb team was called to investigate the aircraft and finally judged that the object is not a legitimate threat. The NYPD building was evacuated from a precaution, officials said.
Police officials gave the “clear” shortly before 12 noon and started working to reopen the Times Square region.
The police said that the video showed a man who would have left the “hoax” system in front of the police station. Sources of application of the law said that a person of interest was in detention at Bellevue hospital.
