Louisiana and Mississippi are experiencing generalized breakdowns of the 911 emergency call systems, according to officials.
The breakdowns have an impact on several parishes in Louisiana and include New Orleans, as well as several Mississippi counties and include the capital of Jackson, according to officials.
A fiber cable 911 coupé was cited by New Orleans emergency communications managers as the reason why breakdowns have a “regional impact”.
Breakdowns have also been reported in Fulton County, Illinois, where managers advise residents to call a non-urgency number, said the Canton police department.
