Marvel has not officially confirmed a third installment. Wright told Variety that “a third Black Panther movie [is] in the works,” but Marvel has not announced a production schedule.

Appearing on The View in June 2024, Wright said she was “grateful” to play Shuri and added: “I would love to continue with Shuri. She’s one of my favorite characters.” When asked if Black Panther 3 was coming, Wright replied, “There’s a lot to come,” smiling as she spoke. Shuri, the sister of the late T’Challa, became the protector of Wakanda following the death of Chadwick Boseman in 2020.

Meanwhile, fan speculation surrounding Black Panther 3 grew after actor Damson Idris appeared alongside Angela Bassett in Vogue World: Hollywood. Photos showed Idris in a black suit with Bassett, who plays Queen Ramonda, sparking speculation that he could play a new T’Challa or Prince Toussaint, introduced at the end of Wakanda Forever. A viral caption saying “yeah, it’s T’Challa” reportedly attracted more than 1.5 million views.

In a previous interview with Entertainment Weekly, the host asked Idris if he was having “any conversations” about becoming the next Black Panther. He replied: “Yes-no!” » and added that he would accept the role if it was offered to him.

Director Ryan Coogler previously said he hopes “people are still making movies about Wakanda long after we’re gone” (via The New York Times). His comment seemed to suggest Marvel’s plans to continue exploring the nation’s heritage and future generations in future stories.
