8 suppliers on board the 24/7 of NZ online GP service

The new New Zealand program, offering 24 hours a day to the primary health services, has been put online.

The 24/7 online general practice service, announced for the first time in March and piloted in May, seeks to relieve overcrowding in emergency services across the country.

The program operates three suppliers who offer 24/7 services: BETTR by local doctors and the white cross, emergency consultations, and Tender. Carehq, Medonline, Pocket Lab, Practice Plus and online doctors have also been integrated to provide online consultations for non -urgent conditions, such as common coughs and colds, intestinal allergies and flu. These providers can also issue prescriptions, laboratory references and medical certificates.

“It is a question of ensuring that Kiwis can obtain the medical help they need when they need it, especially when they cannot get any timely appointments with their regular general practitioner, or the normal external clinic hours,” said Minister of Health Simeon Brown in a statement.

The broader context

The 24/7 digital service is part of Te Whated Ora Health New Zealand Primary Care Tactical Tactical Action Plan, which was allocated NZ $ 447.6 million ($ 265 million) in four -year funding under four Budget 2025.
