7 years after erupting on television screens, Pennywise almost obtained his own walk in a large theme park

The Universal Association with horror goes back to the start of the studio. Classic universal monsters remain an integral deductible for the company, just like Psycho and its suitesAnd of course, Jaws. Although, of course, there are countless films published under the universal aegis in all genres, few companies have produced thrills and chills as effectively as universal. It is a heritage that has even extended to their theme parks around the world, with their emblematic Halloween horror nights Having become a tradition of international renown and the newly open Monsters section in the Epic Universe theme park in Florida.
But long before Frankenstein’s monster and Dracula invade the Orlando resort, another horror icon has almost played in a really terrifying attraction. Based on the world of Stephen King, the journey would have thrown the version of the 1990s of Pennywise (Tim Curry) as a deadly themed, with a bloody backdropIn an effort to compete with Disney, no less! However, the company has moved away from the construction of the attraction. Let’s explore the depths of Derry to discover it, and how the concept found other ways to haunt the guests of Universal!
Universal wanted a pennywise for their park
Competition between Walt Disney Company and Universal is far from secret. While the two organizations have always had their differences, going back to Walt Disney And Oswald the debacle of Lucky Rabbit, their differences have really started to warm up when Universal announced that it was extending its emblematic studio tour to include a location in Orlando, Florida. However, as WDW magazine Recalls, Disney quickly announced its own film / themed park studio based on the park, which increased the competition factor.

Epic Universe Review: Does the theme park of Universal are worth the journey?
Universal Studios has just opened its first theme park in more than 25 years. But how much Epic is it really Epic Universe?
There was certainly a plethora of similarities, because the two boasted of apparent production in the park of real film and television shows, visits to studio backlot and advanced experiences which promised to place the lovers of parks in the middle of their favorite films. Interestingly, the two parks were involved with powerful and popular filmmakers, while Disney joined forces George Lucas and universal with Steven Spielberg. But, as the competition has warmed up between the two, Universal asked for Stephen King’s partnership and planned a truly horrible experience.
The attraction of Stephen King of Universal would have had a terrifying meeting with Pennywise
Since his first novel, CarrieKing was one of the most revered storytellers in the literary world, whether on the page or on the screen. While Universal sought to extend their Orlando theme park, an idea was launched to give life to the King world in a horrible way. According to Bloody disgusting, the idea took shape when the complex was preparing to open its second theme park. Between what was then Disney-MgM studios and the universal adventure islands, the company felt like you need an attraction of the list A to maintain the capacity of the Studio Park, and therefore the concept for Stephen King nightmare was born. However, It must have been a shocking experience for a family park. Of course, the complex already hosted Halloween horror nightsBut the separate ticket event works after hours and has age restrictions. And more than a decade before the epic universe, Stephen King nightmare was to be one of the most frightening rides ever built.
As the title suggests, the attraction would have been a mixture of some of the king’s most terrifying sequences. While many of the driving details have not yet been published by Universal, Bloody Disgusting is reflecting on the star scene of Pennywise. After having experienced many fear, the guests would have come to what seemed to be a unloading station. Before being able to land the vehicle, however, Pennywise would prove to be the operator of the driving. In a reference to the elevator scene in The brilliantPennywise would have released blood on the station, before returning the runners to the attraction that was heading for their destiny. It is by far one of the most horrible ideas ever presented for a theme park, and that was the problem. As indicated by bloody disgusting, Universal feared that this scene would cause various problems to cyclists, as well as maintenance. However, like King’s most famous lair, many of these ideas have been resurrected.
Elements of the “Stephen King nightmare” were reused throughout the line
Although Unaveniversal has chosen not to build the King– based on attraction, many ideas would end up finding their way in the park, Especially those of the Pennywise scene. The idea of having a false unloading sequence has been reused for the emblematic Mummy’s revenge roller coaster. Halfway through the attraction, guests arrive at an apparent unloading station, where a member of the universal team (behind a screen) welcomes them again. But the villain of the franchise, Imhotep (Arnold Vosloo) Kill the operator and send the guests to the dark, hoping to steal their souls along the way. The brilliant I obtained the HHH treatment in 2017 and included the bloody elevator scene, finally bringing the effect to the park. And, while Pennywise himself has not yet haunted Universal’s themed parks, Hhn’s icon, Jack The Clown, shares a lot of similarities with the murderous clown, both in appearance and in actions.
When we consider the events that led to Stephen King nightmare Almost being built in Universal Orlando, it is both fun and rather terrifying. Of course, it would have been epic to see King’s Killer’s clown come to life in the park, but Universal’s decision not to go ahead with the journey may have been the right decision. Not only was the attraction excessive for the parameters of daily operation, but its cancellation finally gave way to some of the best attractions in the park. For the public who wants more action of Pennywise, Welcome to Derry will soon be available in stream! In the meantime, stay listening to collider for all your horror needs.
