James Gunn on the future of Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn at DC

James Gunn keeps the future of Harley Quinn from Margot Robbie in his new vague DC universe.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Gunn was asked if Robbie would return to play the fatal anti-hero and spared in future DC projects. The director of “Superman” kept his brief response.

“It will be revealed all over the line,” he said.

While the future of Harley Quinn in the DC universe is the assumption of anyone, Gunn clearly indicated that he wanted to see the return of another member of “suicide squad”, Idris Elba Bloodsport.

“I’m really looking for a place to put Bloodsport and understand that,” he said. “So we will see what’s going on.”

Robbie played the right woman of the Joker in three DC films. First in 2016, “Suicide Squad”, then in “Birds of Prey” of the 2020s, then finally, “The Suicide Squad” by Gunn in 2021.

In 2020, Robbie said Variety She “fell in love” by Harley Quinn by shooting the first “suicide squad”. She explained that she plunged into research for the character, listening to the TED discussions of women with schizophrenia and the reading of lots of comics.

She said at the time: “Harley has this unpredictable nature which means that she could react in any way to any situation which, as an actor, is only a gift.”

Fans can have a Harley overview in Matt Reeves “Batman Part II”, given his connection with the comic strip with the Caped Crusader. However, the first “Batman” was released in March 2022, several months before Gunn and Peter Safran took charge of DC studios. It is therefore not clear if this franchise will be woven in the interconnected universe of Gunn. The other projects to come in DC slate include “Clayface” and “Wonder Woman”.
