The actress employed to warm the crowd of the Ryder Cup apologized and withdrew from her work before the game of the last day after being recorded by leading a Rory McILroy song in the mouth during the first tee on Saturday.
Heather McMahan apologized to McILroy and Ryder Cup Europe for remarks. It took 20 hours to the PGA in America to address the incident, which occurred before Dawn on Saturday, inviting the questions to know if they were fast enough to act.
McMahan had been used to stir up the crowd during the first tee in order to build the atmosphere, and used a megaphone to drive them in their songs. She tried to persuade them to join her in a choir of “Scotty!” Scotty! Scheffler! ” Up to Queen’s We Will Rock You, but we were hooked to abandon the effort. “Go ride Rory!” was more popular and became a persistent song throughout the day. McILroy replied by blowing the kicks of the crowd when he came to the tee.
This set the tone for a ugly day to Bethpage, when the atmosphere around McILroy in particular became so toxic that the PGA of America called on State police and park police teams to walk on the course with its group halfway. Several spectators have been expelled.
McILroy has been targeted several times with personal abuses and developed so exasperated by people crying during his backswing at one point, he turned and told the crowd to “close the fuck”. The PGA of America has repeatedly displayed spectators’ label warnings on the screens around the field. They were widely hued each time they appeared.
McILroy described the atmosphere as “very, very difficult”. He won the two games anyway.
“I don’t mind that they are throwing us,” said McILroy. “As it is to be expected. I mean, that’s what a Ryder Cup is outside. Each time they always do it while you are above the ball and try to hit your cliché, it’s the difficult thing. You know, look, between the shots, say what you want. It is quite well.
