The first steps saw Marvel recovering her mojo, say the criticisms

Fantastic Four: First Steps helps Marvel to “recover his mojo”, according to most of the first criticisms of the new redress of superheroes.

The 37th film of the Marvel cinematographic universe (MCU) is “Marvel’s best film in a decade,” said the telegraph, while the Guardian said that the studio had “found its creation”.

But other criticisms brought back the feet of the superheroes of the comic strip back on earth. The independent suggested that the retro film is “no disaster – but it is not a superman either”.

The last attempt to restart Fantastic Four follows an adaptation of 2015 which failed at the box office and was badly received by criticism.

The new iteration features Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as an invisible woman, Joseph Quinn as a human torch and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as a thing.

Located in the 1960s, he saw the heroes forced to defend the earth from a hungry space named Galactus, played by Ralph Ineson, and the silver surfer, played by Julia Garner.

The variety of American publication has been impressed, running the title: “Marvel recovers its mojo with a satisfactory restoration of retro style.”

The critic Peter Debrudge said that it was right to retreat from “the overcrowded atmosphere of recent offers”, adding: “There is a relief to make a Marvel film in which you do not need to carefully study several other films to give meaning to what is happening.”

The sex exchange of Silver Surfer, he noted, is the most controversial “change” the most controversial in history, giving a “dynamic intriguing flirted with [Human Torch] Johnny “.

He concluded: “True to his subtitle, the film looks like a new start. And like the superprofonce of this summer, Superman, restart to DC, this could be exactly what it takes to win back the public suffering from exhaustion of superheroes.”

Robbie Collin du Telegraph offered four stars, saying that restarting “looks like a new exciting chapter for Marvel”.

“First Steps is serious, colorful, optimistic,” he said, “and asks his audience to bring nothing to the table beyond a desire to be seduced.”

“Why is the elastic gentleman of Pedro Pascal, is the invisible woman of Vanessa Kirby, the thing with the rocky skin of Ebon Moss-Bachrach and the Burning Human Torch of Joseph Quinn make a quartet so refreshing of human heroes?

“This is partly because the casting allows all four to play their forces – and as an unshakable matriarch of the team, Kirby is particularly good value for money – but also because the film continues to put them in the type of human space where human behavior occurs naturally.”

In a three -star review, Peter Bradshaw of the Guardian explained that “in a retro -futuristic version of the early 1960s, Mr Fantastic and Sue Storm live together as a dysfunctional family with the human torch and the thing – with a baby on the way.”

The result, he wrote, “blocks like an entertaining spectacle in its own innocent universe self-ferme of fantasy, where real people really read the comics who have made mythical legends of the four true”.

He continued: “I recently expressed my dissatisfaction with superhero films which must finish with the cities of collapsing – and, yes, this is what happens here, but at least this final emerges from the premise of established history and works well with the tone of simple pleasure.”

Addition: “Overall, a very silly film – although it keeps the kind of superhero in the air.”

Clarisse LOUGHREY DE LE Independent also exploited three stars, stressing how actress KIRBY “is a star as Susan Storm and the Set Design dazzles”, but that “this franchise Staff is always weighed down by usual jokes and the pathological marvel at risk”.

She wrote: “It was the marriage of Reed and Sue which is also born one of the most fascinating ethical dilemmas that Marvel has ever put on the screen – and yet it is sort of resolved with three scenes later.

“Really, anxiety is not on the cards for Marvel for the moment. And it is, of course, to see the genre kiss Wonder again.”

Director Matt Shakman said his last attempt to bring the heroes of comics on the big screen exists in his “own universe” so that fans do not need to worry if they have not seen every 36 previous MCU films.

John Malkovich had to appear in the film like Red Ghost, however, Shakman told Variety, it was “tearing” to finally have to leave his scenes on the floor room.

During the weekend, Marvel’s boss, Kevin Feige, teased that the studio has “a seven-year plan”, which includes the release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day in the summer of 2026, followed by two Avengers films.

He told Hollywood Trade publications, including variety, that the widen universe and his many characters and intrigues overlapping “were fun”, but in recent times have perhaps let some viewers ask “I have to know everything about all these [characters]? “”

For Caryn James de BBC Culture, the release of Marvel in 2025, his point of view on the fantastic four, is “quite pleasant but lack of tension”.

“The first Steps subtitle says a long time – this film looks like a warm -up, presenting characters who will become major parts of the MCU.”

Dan Jolin d’Empire appreciated it much more, offering four stars.

“If the script does not strike as much comic notes high as a few other wonders, it moved at least sincerity, presenting a heroic team committed to protecting the earth, while encouraging the whole world to connect arms and also to make its piece,” he said.

“These are the kind of hero, we think, that we need right now.”

Fantastic Four: First Steps was released in British cinemas on Thursday.
