CSK’s face came in the form of mid-season signatures which were young people like Dewald Brevis, Ayush Mhatre and Urvil Patel who settled in a team which was called “army of dads”. Before IPL 2026, take a look at three players that CSK should get rid of.
3 stars CSK should go out before IPL 2026
1.
Having led CSK to five IPL trophies in the past, Dhoni was a disappointment of the edition in 2025 of the tournament. Although he continues to be the team’s heart rate, the former captain of India simply has nothing to offer to the team outside of leadership skills. In the 2025 IPL, he managed to score only 196 points in 14 games, and was often criticized for having demolished the order of the strikers, even when the team needed him most.
At 44, MS will not only be the oldest player to appear in IPL in 2026, but will also be a responsibility for the team, since it is not 100%fit. The coach of CSK and Dhoni himself admitted that he had problems with his knee and is therefore not the same destructive finisher as he was before. Although CSK will never come out Ms Dhoni, it is high time that they release a space in the game game by getting rid of him before the next season, because a overhaul is surely necessary.
2. Rahul Tripathi
Signed for Rs 3.40 crosses, Tripathi was an absolute failure for the CSK in IPL 2025. The team bet on the experienced player turned against him because he managed to score more than 55 points in 5 higher paste match.
3. Deepak Hooda
Another experienced player who simply underperform was Deepak Hooda. The versatile, which was put into bags by CSK for RS 1.70 crosses, managed to score only 31 points in five rounds at a typing rate of 75.61 and reached an average of 6.20. Although he struck the prescription, it is no less than a criminal offense to have such figures in the shortest format of the game in modern cricket. Hooda has never had an IPL campaign with an average of more than 18.20 in the past five years!
