The NHL free agency should start on July 1, and several best players will be available.
The off -season is also a good time for the teams to make professions, so here are three teams to search for this offseason.
3 NHL teams to seek in 2025 free agency
# 1, Toronto Maple Leafs
The Toronto Maple Leafs will be the speech of the NHL.
Toronto had another release in the playoffs and now Mitch Marner and John Tavares as a waiting free and Matthew Knies as RFA. Marner is the best free agent available, and if he leaves, how Toronto seems to replace him will be something to look at.
Maple Leafs Director General Brad Treliving also said that the team was to change DNA.
“There is a DNA that must change in our team,” said Treliving. “If you continue to achieve the same result, there is a DNA that must change. It is on me in the future. We have now started planning, and it’s early for putting a team together for 2025-26.”
The Maple Leafs are offset with just over $ 25.7 million in the CAP space.
# 2, Detroit Red Wings
The Detroit Red Wings have missed the playoffs in nine consecutive years, so the Red Wings are looking to end this.
Detroit will seek to be active in a free agency to strengthen the team, and the director general of Red Wings, Steve Yzerman, clearly said that they were interested in an eminent free agent.
“We are at a different step from what we were perhaps five years in that we have a good young core of players. And if we can add to it with an eminent free agent, we would certainly entertain,” said Yzerman, via the team website.
Detroit enters the offseason with just over $ 21.3 million in the CAP space.
# 3, San Jose Sharks
San Jose Sharks are a reconstruction team, but have good basic pieces and could seek to compete soon.
The Sharks are offset with the most ceiling space in the league with just over $ 41.76 million. San Jose can be aggressive and continue the best players to make them competitive next season.
