You may have seen the 1999 film The talented Mr. Ripley With Matt Damon, but did you know that it was based on a novel published more than 40 years ago? Netflix Riple is not a remake at the time, but goes back to the source, offering a slower rhythm and a deliciously disturbing lead performance by Andrew Scott.
If you are not familiar, it is a story on the artist of holder who has trouble living in New York. A rich man Ripley task by bringing his son Dickie back to the house, who has lived in Italy for years, believing that the two are closer friends than they are. Once there, Ripley realizes that Dickie appreciates the luxurious life which he sucks and begins a twisted diagram to make sure that he too can lounge in the sun.
Located in 1960 and shot in black and white, the show is elegant and looks like a classic black. In addition, the Italian coast is magnificent, of course. But with Scott in the center, a glow in his eyes as he manipulates situations, it becomes something much darker; It is calculated and cold, but it is not a genius, often making mistakes and overcoming situations tight by luck. This is what makes the character strangely convincing – you do not necessarily root yourself, but you will be seized by the growing deception.

Michael Schur has contributed to some of the most emblematic sitcoms in recent times, as Parks and leisure,, Brooklyn Neuf-NeufAnd The right place. His last, A man insidegathered it with Ted Danson for a comedy about a widowed professor who is hired by a private investigator to go under cover in a retirement home. The crime? A missing ruby necklace.
Date is always a good value for money and it is at the top of the form here as Charles, a sympathetic man who is too enthusiastic about his new job. He soon grew up near many residents of the house and it is here whose warmth of the show comes; It’s nice to see a group of seniors on the screen depicts as real people and not stereotypes.
Admittedly, I did not find the spectacle as fun as the others of Schur, but it is always very fun, with a lot of charm and heart; It sounds the right emotional balance without ever feeling twee. It’s also nice to see more Stephanie Beatriz, who is shiny Brooklyn Neuf-Neuf And here plays an entirely different role as a surged director of the retirement home.

In The residence There was a murder in the White House at a state dinner and it was in Cordelia Cupp, a detective renowned by intended for a penchant for bird observation, to resolve it. It is a mystery of large -scale locked room – someone inside the White House must have committed the crime, but with so many suspects and rooms, Cupp has tip.
The residence To a large distribution of characters, including those who live in the White House, those who work there and those who attend the state dinner for the Australian Prime Minister (like Kylie Minogue, playing a fun version of herself). The dynamics between these groups make the investigation even more complicated (and funny!), While Cupp sits with them all to discover not only what their movements were the night of murder, but also everything that led there.
A particularly impressive element of the show is the design of production. I never went to the White House, but The residence The nail on the basis of photos. It really feels like looking at something that was filmed there, and it is good to see areas on the screen that you would not do normally, such as residential rooms and staff areas.
